With the New Year approaching you say next year you are really going to do something with your small web business huh?  You have saved your dollars all throughout 2009 and you now have a paid search marketing budget for 2010 that will allow you to spend around $2,000/month in paid advertising. I have some good news and bad news for you. The bad news – that is not much to spend per month but now for the good news – you can make it work for you and your business can thrive with these helpful tips:

  • Start with a small amount of keywords that is specific to your products/services. You can keep this list as small as just one or two lucrative keywords, but you’ll have to do a lot of research beforehand to decide on the short-listed keywords. A better option for newcomers is to select longer tail versions of more expensive keywords in order to cast a wider net while really refining your traffic and then combine that with geo-targeted adverts.
  • Your text ads have to be the best they can be.  Include keywords in your headlines, ad text, and make sure you include calls to action!   Example  Keyword : Taylor Made R9 460.

  • We are all creatures of habit and we all want a deal.  Find incentives you can promote in your ads that will give your consumers a reason to shop/use your services. Can you offer free shipping? Perhaps a discount on orders over a certain price? Can you slash your prices to win over new business or buy in bulk to lower your costs and pass those savings on to your consumers? Would a complimentary gift-wrapping service give you an edge or can you give out sample-size trials of new products with each purchase? You need to work hard to stand out and incentives are a great way of doing this.
  • Finally, if the math does not add up and $2,000/month just will not work in a particular paid search network, consider using the less popular search networks like Yahoo, Bing, Quigo, or Pulse 360.  Yes, Google has more traffic, but everything’s relative and you don’t need millions and millions of web users to make a difference to your own sales figures. There are plenty of shoppers the other networks and they’re much cheaper to come by and depending on your product/service convert higher too.

With dedication and a close eye on the purse strings you’ll be surprised at what a $2,000/month PPC campaign can do for your sales figures.
