From time to time I like to go back to my resources as a refresher course on the basics of SEO. Link building has and will be one of the main reasons why websites place high on the SERPS. Ever do a search on Google for “Leave”? What to know why Disney comes up #2? Well its because of link building and anchor text. Anchor text from adult sites that as a visitor if they are the leag age and you “enter” or “leave” and if you click on the leave link guess where you go? Yep, Disney!
Anyhow here are some of my basics in link building:
I think link building strategy is broken down into three categories:
- One – Way Authoritative Sites — Incoming links from authoritative sites will search engines your site is important and a trusted resource. It is an endorsement just like during the presidential race when each candidate receives endorsements to be the next president.
- Keyword anchor text links — So now you have gotten a great link but if the anchor text (the text within the link) is not relevant to your site or is not optimized you have not gotten full value. Anchor text tells the search engines what the site they are linking to is all about.
- Unique IP Address Link — Links from unique ip address makes you link profile much more natural looking and also establishes link authority by letting the search engines know that your site is endorsed by many. Again the key is natural!
